Time to update my blog. Regarding my memoir, The Last Stop: Reflections on Senior Living, nothing good is happening. I have no agents pursuing me to take my book to a publisher or do I have any publishers knocking my door down. So I am now struggling with the decision of whether to consider self-publishing. Many writers do it quite successfully and that may be the way for me to go. Most people that know about my book or have read a few chapters think it would be a huge help for people looking into Senior Living arrangements. The book can’t be of help to anyone sitting in my computer. I have to do something.
What else is going on? My seventh great grand baby, Joshua, has just been born in San Antonio Texas and I will get a chance to meet him at Christmas.
Last week I went shopping for the great grand babies holiday gifts. The oldest is seven years old and so for seven years, with a new baby being born each year, I have sent pajamas to each of them. The parents tell me the kids, four boys and two girls love their pajamas from Margy and when they get together, which they do frequently, they wear their Margy sleepers.
This is my routine. I get the sizes from the parents. I go to Walmart because I think I find the best choices there. I allow myself plenty of time as I have discovered when you are out of the children's shopping mode, it take time to figure out locations, sizes and styles. I try to go when the store isn’t crowded, but I do find it helps when I see a young mother and can ask her a stupid question or two. It took me almost two hours last week and I think I did well. I called one of my granddaughters while I was shopping to check on what to do because I could not find a toddler 7 with feet in. She didn’t answer so I winged it with a boy’s small with no feet. Hope it works.
The next challenge is to package and send. I leave the price tags on so they can exchange at the store if the need to.
That’s it for now. I am looking forward to the holidays to see members of my family. Happy holiday my readers. I will try to write before 2016 but no promises.
