As Ellen passed my dinner table she invited me to eat with her next Wednesday evening. I said fine. I am fond of Ellen and enjoy spending time with her. I was with Cathy, and Ellen asked her to join us. I went up to my apartment, got busy and did not writing the date down which is always a mistake. A few days later I remembered I had made a date for Wednesday but forgot with whom. On Sunday, which is the day we make meal reservations for the coming week, I got an email from Ellen saying she had reserved for the 3 of us at 5:30 PM. And so at 5:25 on Wednesday I went to the dinning room to meet my group. Betty was standing with Ellen and Kathy and I thought how nice that they invited her. I had not spent time with her in a long time. And so we ate and had a nice visit. At the end of the meal Betty had to hurry off. Something related to watching the Roosevelt series. I told the other two women that it was so nice eating with Betty. I was so glad they invited her. Kathy looked a bit puzzled and told us that Betty had called her to eat and she was glad they had joined Ellen and me. Ellen, quite surprised, reminded Kathy that the three of us had made the date last week. Kathy didn’t remember anything about that; she arrived in the dining room planning to meet Betty and thought the maître de had just put them together with us. It’s all pretty trivial, but it is strange how the older group can get things mixed up!! So goes life at over 80.
